Anti-Abortion Billboards creates stir among blacks.

Anti-Abortion Billboards creates stir among blacks.

Recently, a group of black leaders placed an anti-abortion billboard in SoHo, a neighborhood in Manhattan, New York that created a firestorm among the community. The billboard which featured a picture of a young black girl and below the message read, "The most dangerous place for African Americans is in the womb." There is another group of blacks in Georgia that is running a similar campaign. The purpose for both campaigns was to raise the awareness of the abortion problem among blacks, but it was met with anger by many including some blacks. No one said that it wasn’t true. No one said it was racist. Then, why would anyone be upset about it?

Let’s say what abortion really is and that it is the murder of a human being. At the moment of conception there is DNA present and in 9-10 weeks a heart beat is detected. I will not go into the gory details of the abortion procedure, but it is the extinguishing of a life. If you were wondering when does life begins now you know, at conception. When the angel told Mary that she would bring Jesus into the world, at the moment of conception Jesus was inside Mary. The same is true with every pregnancy. Mary would have never considered abortion and neither should you. And yet we are aborting baby Jesus at a rate of 4000 a day.

Here are some more facts. 94% of abortion clinics are located in black or poor neighborhoods. There have been over 15 million abortions in the black community since 1973. A black woman is 3 times as likely to abort as white women. The black community makes up 13% of the population and 36% of the abortions in the U.S. In New York City where the billboard was placed, 60% of black pregnant women will abort their child. In Georgia black women make for nearly 60% of all abortions.

These billboards should anger and not offend. If you are offended by the truth stay away from a church that really preaches the truth. We all should be angry at the sheer number of abortions. We should be angry with a government that is funding abortions. And we should do what we can to stop the killing of innocent lives. This is a, what would Jesus do, moment. Jesus was angry at the venders in the temple. He would likewise be angry with what we are doing to our temples. You are the temple of the Holy Ghost and you as a lifegiver, women, are the sanctuary to our unborn children. Please hold fast to this belief.

I hope many of you educate yourselves about this issue of abortion regardless of skin color.

Were you offended by the billboards?

If so, why?

What say you?

I didn't see the billboards, but if I did I wouldn't be offended. I agree with you and this anti-abortion message. I, however, disagree with some of the fear and judgmental tactics that are promoted by some anti-abortion causes. We need to explore the root of the problem as to why abortion is believed to be such a viable option for females who are faced with unwanted pregnancies. Let's figure out how to eliminate the demand in the first place. I agree that government funding should be eliminated.

"we should do what we can to stop the killing of innocent lives." This is the kind of rhetoric that resulted in the murder of Dr. George Tiller and the bombings of abortion clinics. I agree with the previous poster who said "Let's figure out how to eliminate the demand in the first place." but I do not think that government funding should be eliminated. If we eliminate government funding for this, why not for other things (that I don't agree with) where people are killed like the death penalty, any war of choice, (i.e. Iraq). Like they used to say in the '90's, abortion should be safe, legal and unnecessary.

I don't think no true Christian would condone murdering abortion doctors or bombing their clinics. However, I am opposed to tax payer dollars funding the murders of babies, that is if you believe that life begins at conception. As for funding for the death penalty and wars those are all biblical and sanctioned by God. The death penalty is carried out everyday by kiiling the unborn, who did not commit any crime for the penalty of death. The war of the womb is where the debate is. Whether you believe that it a woman's right to extinguish the life growing in her or not that is the war and the unborn is losing the fight. I would agree with on this one thing, let's make abortion unnecessary.
